Relive the Streets of Korea in the 1900s at Donuimun Museum Village

The Donuimun Museum Village is an open-air complex featuring traditional Korean hanok houses and other historical buildings, offering visitors a glimpse into the architectural evolution of Seoul from the 1900s to the 1980s. Established in September 2017, this unique outdoor museum is situated next to Gyeonghuigung Palace and the Seoul Museum of History in Jongno-gu.

Through dedicated urban revitalization initiatives, the Donuimun Museum Village has preserved 40 out of 63 houses in Saemunan, an old neighborhood district, showcasing architecture from both the modern era of Korea's history and the Joseon Dynasty period. These restored houses now serve as exhibition and experiential spaces, providing visitors with an immersive journey through time.

The village's charm extends beyond its buildings, encompassing its interior and exterior spaces, including alleyways, courtyards, and walls. Visitors are invited to explore this captivating exhibition playground, where various performances and events, such as flea markets and food trucks, are held in the village square. Walking through the village's alleyways offers a deeper understanding of Saemunan and its former inhabitants, providing an enriching experience of Korea's cultural heritage.
